Accuso privacy policy
Accuso (“the app”) is made by MDKJ Digital Ltd (“we”). This policy explains what information the app handles and why.
The short version
- The game needs no account, and asks for no name, email or password.
- Your progress, streak, saved cases and notebook entries are stored only on your device. We never receive them.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some information to show and measure those ads, as described below.
- We use TelemetryDeck for anonymous usage statistics (which difficulties get played, whether hints help) so we can improve the game. It never receives your name, your answers, or anything that identifies you.
- Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Information stored on your device
The app saves your game progress (cases played, results, solve times, hints used, your streak, boards in progress and anything you write in a case’s notebook) in your device’s local storage so you can pick up where you left off. This information never leaves your device. Deleting the app deletes it.
Advertising
The free version of the app shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure how ads perform, Google may collect information such as your device’s advertising identifier, your IP address and approximate location derived from it, and how you interact with ads, along with crash and performance diagnostics from its advertising software. Google’s use of this information is governed by Google’s privacy policy and its explanation of how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Your choices
- On iPhone, the app asks permission before your advertising identifier can be used to track you across other companies’ apps and websites. If you decline, you will still see ads; they will simply be less tailored. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent through Google’s consent form before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time from the app’s ⋯ menu → Privacy choices.
- Premium removes all ads. Once you have Premium, the app no longer starts the advertising service when it opens.
Usage statistics
To understand how the game is played, the app sends anonymous usage events to TelemetryDeck: for example that a medium case was finished, how long it took and how many hints were used, or that a hint was taken. Each install is represented by a random identifier that is hashed on your device before anything is sent, so the events cannot be tied to you. They contain no names, no answers, nothing you type, and are not used for advertising or tracking. See TelemetryDeck’s privacy policy.
Purchases
Accuso Premium is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment; the app only learns whether the purchase succeeded so that it can unlock Premium. See Apple’s privacy policy.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. Because the app gives us nothing that identifies you, we will normally hold none. Requests about ad data should go to Google, whose policy explains how. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new “last updated” date.
